The Split Decisions Sweater is not your everyday crochet sweater. This three quarter sleeved, calf length crochet sweater is one that will definitely turn some heads. Not only is the it long, but it also features an array of different elements that come together to make this crochet sweater one of a kind.
The front and side splits makes styling this sweater super easy. Dress it down with a pair of leggings and sneakers or dress it up with a cute pair of jeans and some knee high boots. The possibilities are endless.
Now for the star of the show, the back detailing. The Split Decisions sweater features a gorgeous peek a boo design that will unquestionably be your favorite part of the sweater. The V-shaped design utilizes chain stitches to create a flirty sweater perfect for any occasion.
The Yarn
For this sweater, I used my new favorite DK weight yarn, Paintbox Yarns Simply DK. This is the second project that I’ve crocheted with this yarn (check out the Peephole Scarf), and it does not disappoint. When I got this yarn from my friends over at LoveCrafts, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it, and it worked out perfectly. Let me give you the deets on this yarn. It is a Category 3 weight yarn and comes in skeins of 306 yards. This yarn is super soft and also comes in a wide variety of colors. On top of all of that, it is so affordable. For the Split Decisions Sweater you will need approximately 6-9 skeins depending on the size you make. Go ahead and pick out the color or colors for your crochet sweater.

Yarn Subs
Now if you can’t get your hands on the Paintbox Yarn Simply DK, no worries! This crochet sweater can be made using any category 3 light yarn. A couple great substitutes for this yarn would be Schachenmayr Bravo from LoveCrafts or if you’re into cotton Paintbox Yarns Simply Cotton.
The Inspiration
Whenever I design a new garment, my goal is to create a piece that is modern, but also stylish on any body type. I speak about inclusivity a great deal because I feel like it’s important not only in the fiber community, but in the world in general. Some people tend to forget that no matter your color, shape, or size, that we are all humans. We are all here trying to survive. Trying or best to overcome obstacles and hurdles. We all are. So I try to do my part with the talents that I have to create a space that it for everyone. This crochet sweater is designed with everyone in mind. Ranging in bust sizes from 30″ to 62″, and easily customizable if needed, it’s the perfect project for any one who wants a fabulous sweater.
Having an awesome group of makers test drive a new idea is a major part of the design process. Testing allows the designer to work out all the kinks before the pattern goes live. I could not have completed this crochet top without the help of my lovely Designs by Key testers! Click their links below to show them some love, and to see their finished Split Decisions Sweaters!
